Fire engines were rushed to Glasgow Airport after a flight landed with a "massive bang". 

The easyJet flight EZY6862 inbound from Malaga landed in Glasgow around 2pm and is still on the runway. 

Three pumping appliances and one aerial appliance were in attendance. 

A passenger on the flight said: "The plane landed with a massive bang and came to a standstill moments later." 

"Captain tells us he suspects tyre burst on landing but now fire engines with blue lights rushing to check out what’s happened."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue services spokesman confirmed they were in attendance until 2.55pm and that the incident is under control. 

"Our services are no longer required and the incident has been left in the care of the Airport fire service and aircraft fire engineer."

At the time of the incident, the spokesman said: "Currently the aircraft is being assessed by the airport fire service, Scottish Fire and Rescue and an aircraft engineer."

A Glasgow Airport spokesman said: "An easy jet aircraft arriving from Malaga suffered a technical issue on landing and our emergency services attended as is standard procedure.

"The aircraft was assessed and then towed to the stand where passengers disembarked."

The easyJet plane will now be fully inspected by engineers. 

One aircraft was diverted from the airport during the incident but planes are not landing as usual. 

A spokesperson for easyJet said: "We can confirm that, after safely landing, flight EZY6862 from Malaga to Glasgow suffered a burst tyre. Emergency services attended as a precaution only.

“The aircraft has been towed to stand and passengers have disembarked normally.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is the airline’s highest priority. The aircraft will be inspected by engineers as a precaution and in line with procedures.”
