Fire crews are fighting a huge blaze at a derelict primary school in the north of Glasgow.

More than six appliances are in attendance at the scene at St Stephen's School on Pinkston Drive after the alarm was raised just after 7pm on Monday.

Fire services confirmed the fire is affecting the derelict building rather than the newly developed school in the Sighthill area.

Pupils from the primary school were recently moved into a new £22million facility, the Sighthill Community Campus.

The new building united the former St Stephen’s Primary, St Kevin’s ASL Primary and an early years’ provision.

Police were made aware of the fire at 7.20pm by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service but are not in attendance.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "We are currently in attendance at a building fire on Pinkston drive in Glasgow. Six appliances were mobilised to the scene and the alarm was raised at 7.03pm.

"Crews continue to tackle a well-developed fire within a derelict building."

This is a developing story and updates will follow.
