CELTIC have appointed Fran Alonso, who was Ronald Koeman’s first-team assistant at Everton, as their new women’s team head coach.
Alonso, left, who was also Mauricio Pochettino’s technical coach at Southampton, was appointed manager of Women’s Championship side Lewes FC 13 months ago, but resigned yesterday. He was announced as the new Celtic head coach last night.
“Celtic is one of the world’s truly great football clubs and one I know which has made a huge commitment to developing its women’s team,” the 43-year-old Spaniard said.
I am delighted to join @CelticFCWomen, I can not wait to meet the players and staff and start the exciting journey!
