A pensioner was attacked and robbed of a three-figure sum of cash and personal possession in a Kirkintilloch home on Thursday. 

Around 3pm on January 16, a man in his forties forced his way into the Meiklehill Avenue area of the town. 

The 70-year-old man sustained minor injuries in the "frightening experience".

Police are appealing for witnesses as they search for the suspect. 

He is described as white, 5ft 7ins, of medium build and aged about 40. 

The suspect was wearing a green and white waterproof jacket with the hood up, glasses and dark jogging trousers at the time.

Police Constable Emma Laurie, of the Greater Glasgow Robbery Unit, said: “Although this gentleman sustained minor injuries, it was a very frightening experience for him and we want to speak to anyone who may have seen something both before and after the robbery.

“I would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us immediately. Also, if you recognise the description of the man then please call us.

“Anyone who can help should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2697 of January 16, 2020, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
