IRISH Republican marchers are to be met with Loyalist protesters in Glasgow today.

Around 200 people are to parade through the city for a Bloody Sunday memorial march, starting on Shamrock Street near Cowcaddens at around 11am.

Fears have been brewing over the potential for violent scenes following tensions that surfaced at the end of the last marching season.

Members of the National Defence League are calling on "all loyalists" to demonstrate against the event- meeting on Cambridge Street at 11.30am.

Police Scotland say that as with any event, planning is in place and it will be "policed appropriately" to "ensure the safety of all involved and of the winder community".

Bloody Sunday saw 14 unarmed civilians killed by British soldiers during a protest march in 1972.
