Two men were hospitalised following an incident in Coatbridge. 

The two men were found near the police station on Whittington Street on Saturday morning. 

One man was found with chest injuries around 6.55am on January 25 and was taken to hospital for treatment. 

A second man was found in a house on the street with injuries to his back. 

Police Scotland have launched an investigation into the incident.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Police were called after a man was found with injuries to his chest in the Whittington Street area of Coatbridge at around 6.55am on Saturday, 25 January.

"He has been taken for hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.

"A second man was found with injuries to his back within a property on Whittington Street and has also been taken to hospital for treatment.

"Enquiries into the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing."
