TWO men are to stand trial accused of mowing down and murdering a teenager.

Dean Wright, 31, and Robert Farrell, 32, allegedly killed Liam Hendry after driving at him in a van in Glasgow's Barrowfield last September 29.

Prosecutors claim the pair were under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time.

It is claimed they drove at excessive speed and struck 18-year-old Liam on the road sending him into the air.

The van is said to have been turned around and 'on two further occasions' attempts were made to drive over Liam as he lay unconscious.

The teenager is described as being so severely injured that he later died following the alleged incident close to Celtic Park.

Wright and Farrell are separately accused of trying to kill four people who had been helping Liam.

It is alleged they tried to hit the group with the van forcing them to take 'evasive action'.

Wright alone faces a further charge of possession of cocaine at the scene and at Glasgow's Royal Infirmary.

His advocate Louise Arrol and Keith Stewart QC, defending Farrell, pled not guilty on their behalf during a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today.

The lawyers along with prosecutor Mark McGuire agreed a trial could be set.

Lord Burns fixed a trial due to begin in July.

The case could last around seven days.
