A man has been arrested after a shooting that killed a dog and injured others.

Police Scotland confirmed they have arrested a 23-year-old in connection with the incident in Cumbernauld's Brunswick Gardens last Thursday. He was, however, released pending further enquiries. 

We previously reported that Maltichon pooch Henry was killed while his owner suffered hand injuries after being grazed by a bullet.

A 27-year-old man, who was the target of the attack, was being treated in hospital for back injuries. He has since been released from the hospital. 

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 23-year-old man was arrested in relation to a disturbance in Brunswick Gardens Cumbernauld.

"The incident happened around 6.55pm on Thursday, January 23.

"The man has been released pending further enquiries. Enquiries remain ongoing."
