FLORIAN KAMBERI insists he didn't disrespect Hibernian by hailing his switch to Rangers as a dream move as he took a step up in his career.

The Swiss completed a deadline day loan transfer from Easter Road to Ibrox and made his debut for Steven Gerrard's side in the goalless draw with Aberdeen as Rangers dropped two costly Premiership points.

Kamberi revealed he had been dreaming of a move to Rangers ever since he first moved to Scotland from Grasshoppers Zurich two years ago.

Those comments have angered some Hibernian supporters and could make life difficult for Kamberi should he have to return to Leith at the end of the Premiership campaign.

The 24-year-old insists he did not mean to disrespect Hibernian with his answers in a RangersTV interview on the night that he put pen-to-paper.

And he believes he has made the right move for himself on a personal and professional basis as he looks to help Gerrard's side lift the title and Scottish Cup in the coming months.

Kamberi said: “It’s difficult to say if I’ll play for Hibs again.

"I don’t even want to look to the future. I’m at Rangers until the summer after the gaffer and the whole club gave me this opportunity because they see something in me and I want to repay them with goals, assists, performances or whatever and then we’ll see in the summer.

“I understand that the fans thought I was being disrespectful but when I was at Hibs I gave 100 per cent in every game and didn’t think about any other club. It’s clear that I’m ambitious guy, I’m young and want to make the next step, and want to go to a bigger club and I have done that on loan.

“But I was never disrespectful because Hibs fans always treated me amazing since day one so I didn’t mean to be disrespectful.

“Of course it could make it difficult if and when I go back but they wouldn’t have been happy with any player going to Hibs from Rangers, even without those comments.

“But I’m an ambitious guy and I have the possibility to play in this big club and I’m doing what any normal, ambitious young footballer would do.

“Any player who plays for a smaller club than Rangers or Celtic and has the chance to go to one of those clubs would take it. I have big ambitions in my career but I want to do everything step by step. I have the chance to be at Rangers and want to give my best."
