Ranger star Alfredo Morelos has spoken out over claims a private detective hired by his wife was behind a car 'tampering' incident.

The Colombian footballer's personal life has been in the spotlight in the last week, after the striker's car was allegedly 'tampered' with outside his Glasgow home last Tuesday.

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a breach of the peace following the incident - with the Sunday Mail claiming it was a private detective hired by Morelos' wife Yesenia.

Pictures from the apartment complex last week showed the £150,000 Lamborghini being towed away for police analysis.

Now, 23-year-old Morelos has spoken out on the issue for the first time over the issue.

Speaking in Spanish to Colombian radio station VBar de Caracol on Monday, he said: "We hope that the person who was underneath the car tells the truth, who did it, because my wife had nothing to do with it."

He said he believes the person was trying to sabotage his vehicle by "manipulating the brakes".

Morelos added he hopes the situation can be resolved soon for the well-being of his family.

He added: "Yes there was a man under my car, we do not know who he was.

"There are many unknowns.

"But we are calm and trying to solve it".

It comes after we told yesterday how mum-to-be Yesenia pleaded her innocence on social media.

Posting in Spanish, mum-to-be Yesenia wrote: "Show me the evidence where it shows that it is me.

“I give you some advice first verify that the information is true and do not give news of which you are not sure.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson previously confirmed: “A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged with an alleged breach of the peace in connection with the incident.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
