STEVEN GERRARD has urged his players to ignore the outside noise from those that have written off Rangers' silverware chances.

And the Ibrox boss is confident his side have what it takes to produce the kind of form that will bring them right back into the Premiership title race once again this term.

Rangers have fallen seven points adrift of Celtic after losing to Hearts and drawing with Aberdeen. Now, the pressure is really on when Hibernian visit tonight.

Gerrard said: “I’ve got no doubt. I’ve got every confidence in the players. At full strength this squad is capable of going on a long, strong unbeaten run. That’s maybe what might be needed.

"There are still very important fixtures to come in the league, and the cup and in Europe. I said to the players yesterday if you listen to the noise on the outside, people think we are done.

"People think the wheels have come off. There’s a crisis and it’s all over. But if you stay logical about it, stick together and work hard and keep pushing forward we can come through this and still have and extremely strong season.

"That’s my belief. We have all got emotions. It is what is it. You feel how you feel. But when the dust settles you analyse it properly and you control your emotions.

“That’s what we have to do. We have to realise where we are and the reality is we’ve had two indifferent results - one very bad one and one where we could not find a breakthrough. For me, that’s not a crisis. It’s just maybe a little dip in form, a blip that we have to play through and get out and get ourselves feeling good again.”

Rangers have struggled for form since returning from the winter break last month.

The momentum from their Old Firm win has been lost but Gerrard is confident the Gers can hit the heights once again.

He said: “It would be easy to use the winter break as an excuse but I don’t think that’s the case. Injuries and suspensions haven’t helped but when you’re in a good moment and rhythm then you want to continue in that vein.

“But you have to take into consideration the fact it was our 38th game so maybe further down the line when we find our spark the break might benefit us towards the end of the season but what’s vital is we find a strong, positive win as quickly as we can.

“The schedule is relentless but we put a big squad together to cope with the demands and we’ve looked across the numbers and this certainly isn’t a physical problem as the players are in good shape.

“We have some individual injuries which have been costly to us - James (Tavernier), Ryan (Jack) and Davo (Steven Davis) had a calf before the break - so we have missed some important players but the easiest thing to do is look for excuses when you’re in indifferent form.

“The thing to do here is take responsibility for hit, stick together and keep believing in doing the right things and I’ve got no doubt they’ll bounce back very quickly and there’s a lot of games so as quick as you feel bad about yourself, two strong performances can make you feel good about yourself again.”
