Holidaymakers have been encouraged to allow more time for getting to Glasgow Airport because of nearby roadworks in the coming weeks.

Roadworks near Glasgow Airport will take place over two weeks, starting from Feburary 17.

The works are expected to last until the morning of February 27.

Scotland TranServ will work over night Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday over the fortnight period to resurface the nearly 300 metres of the M8 Westbound Junction 28 off slip at Glasgow Airport.

Liam Browne, Scotland TranServ’s Area Network Manager said: “We have been working closely with the emergency services, local authority, and key stakeholders to carefully schedule this essential programme of road surface improvements.

"In particular we have consulted with airport management to help reduce the impact on their customers and staff."

The works will cost £71,000 and take two weeks to complete.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for journeys to and from the airport, due to diversion routes.

Work will be carried out from 8pm to 6am on the following days:

  • Monday 17th to Tuesday 18th February
  • Tuesday 18th to Wednesday 19th February
  • Wednesday 19th to Thursday 20th February
