GLEN KAMARA was pleased Rangers got their rewards for stepping it up in the second half as they raised their levels to see off Hamilton.

Steven Gerrard’s side were tied at the break as Lewis Smith cancelled out Scott Arfield’s opener after the midfielder converted when his penalty was saved.

Arfield would round off the scoring with a spectacular late effort as Rangers clinched a 4-1 victory to secure their passage into the last eight.

Goals from Joe Aribo and Alfredo Morelos had won the game by that stage and Kamara reckons it was just what the Light Blue deserved.

He said: “It was a good win and I am excited to be in the next round.

“We were probably a bit sloppy defensively in the first half but we came out second half and, as you can see, we turned it up a little bit and got the victory that we needed.

“We have got loads of games coming up in Europe, in the league and in the cup so getting through today was vital. We are happy to do that.”

Rangers were far from their best during spells of an at times low key cup encounter but they emerged as worthy winners as they made it three wins from three against Accies this term.

It was another step in the right direction for Gerrard’s side as they look to recover from their Premiership stumbles against Hearts and Aberdeen in recent weeks.

And Kamara admits he is trying to play his own way back into form after being frustrated with his showings since the winter break.

He said: “Probably not the greatest but I will work in training and you work hard to try and be the best player that you can be at all times. I will keep that (the reasons) to myself and I will work hard on it.”
