GUILLAUME BEUZELIN was left to rue Hamilton’s injury luck as his side were beaten 4-1 by Rangers in the Scottish Cup fifth round.

Accies lost Steve Davies and Andy Dales within seconds of each other towards the end of the first half at the Fountain of Youth Stadium.

And Beuzelin then had to use his final substitution at the break as Mikel Miller – who had come on to replace Dales – was also forced off through injury.

Rangers controlled the second half as Hamilton failed to build on a well-worked equaliser from Lewis Smith and were left empty-handed.

Beuzelin said: “It was hard to take for the boys because again they gave so much. The effort was there, our game plan to be nice and compact with two boys up front.

“Obviously that leaves space on the side and Rangers captialised by two crosses and we could not deal with that. We need to learn from it and deal with crosses better.

“It was difficult situation to deal with: three injuries almost at the same time. In second half when we chased the game a bit it is very tiring for the players and usually you can put on substitutes in the 60th minute and 75. We couldn’t do that and conceded goals in this period. It was a big influence on the game.”

Boss Brice Rice handed youngster Andy Winter his first start for Accies as he went up against Connor Goldson and George Edmundson.

The striker equipped himself well and coach Beuzelin said: “For his first time he done really well. He got a chance, just after half time, the ball over the top and he rushed it a little bit.

“He will watch that and think I could have done better. I have seen him for U18s and Reserves and he has done better. He will be frustrated but is a great learn.”
