The city that woke up with blue skies this morning is now being urged to prepapre for four days of 'severe' weather conditions. 

Reported as one of the biggest storms in Britain since 2013, Storm Ciara has already swooped in. 

We will expect strong winds to continue to sweep through the streets until tomorrow, then on Monday another yellow weather warning will be in place for snow and furhter gale force winds. This warning will be rolled out until Tuesday.

Commuters are being urged to prepare for travel disruptions throughout this time.

The Met Office is warning to expect the following throughout the weekend:

  •  Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible
  • Injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and propertiesSome damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen
  • Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible
  • Some roads and bridges may closePower cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage​
