A MAN is to stand trial for allegedly threatening to blow up a mosque and claiming he was a Jihadi.
Yassin Idris, 43, is also accused of assaulting PC Safdar Sadiq at Glasgow Central Mosque last October.
Prosecutors claim Idris repeatedly attempted to punch the officer on the head and body. It is alleged that Idris shouted and uttered threats of violence.
The charge also claims that Idris “stated he would blow up the mosque, stated he was a Jihadi and challenged the lieges to fight.”
Both charges are said to have been aggravated by religious prejudice.
Idris pleaded not guilty at a hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday.
A trial date for the end of March was set by Sheriff Martin Jones QC.
Idris, who appeared from custody, had his remand extended until the trial date.
