A MAN has died and several families have been evacuated in Govanhill.
Emergency services have been at Govanhill Street since 9 am when the man's body was discovered.
His death is being treated as unexplained.
Police, however, say that flats in the area have been evacuated due to the possible presence of a noxious substance.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 9 am on Wednesday, February 12, the body of a man was discovered at an address in Govanhill Street, Glasgow.
"A Post Mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death which police are currently treating as unexplained.
"Police and other emergency services remain in attendance.
"A number of flats have been evacuated as a precaution due to the possible presence of a noxious substance."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman added: “We were requested at 9.55am on Wednesday, February 12 to assist our emergency service partners in Glasgow’s Govanhill Street.
“Operations Control mobilised five fire appliances to the scene, where firefighters assisted their partners by working to make the area safe before leaving the scene.”
