A body has been found in search of 53-year-old Karen Murphy who vanished from Gartnavel Hospital on Great Western Road last month. 

Ms Murphy vanished from the hospital at around 8pm on Monday, 13 January and was last seen leaving Renton train station near Dumbarton around an hour later. 

An urgent appeal was launched trace Ms Murphy as concerns grew for her welfare. 

Police have now confirmed that a body recovered from the River Leven near Dumbarton on Sunday, 9 February is Ms Murphy and her family have been informed. 

Inspector Graeme Hogg from Dumbarton Police Station said: "Our thoughts continue to be with Karen's family and friends as they come to terms with this news and we have officers providing them with assistance at this difficult time.

"There are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
