A man is to appear in court over an alleged stabbing in front of the deli where Paige Doherty was murdered.

A 27-year-old man was arrested in Clydebank yesterday and has been charged with road traffic offences and serious assault.

The Daily Record reported yesterday that a taxi driver got out of his car during an altercation with a car in front of him.

It is alleged that the man in this car got out and then stabbed the taxi passenger several times in the neck.

He was arrested on Fleming Avenue, mere feet from the now-abandoned Delicious Deli where John Leatham brutally murdered Paige Doherty in 2016.

Police have seized CCTV from neighbouring shop, Fleming's Gifts.

Footage from the shop's cameras previously played a vital role in bringing Paige Doherty's killer to justice.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences and a serious assault which happened in Fleming Avenue at 4.20am on Thursday, February 13.

"He is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday, February 14."
