FROM grabbing a bargain to filling up a barrow full of treats - Glasgow's Potato Day is back for its eight year.

Organised by Glasgow Allotments Forum, the event attracts plot holders from allotments across the city and beyond.

The day is designed to make potato growing accessible for everyone from seasoned gardeners to those with plant pots on their balcony.

Organiser Sandra Quadrelli said: "The event provides the opportunity to choose from more than 40 varieties of seed potato, from as little as just one tuber if you want to try something different.

"Of course, all the traditional favourites are there as well, with expert volunteers on hand to give advice on cultivation and how to get the best out of your tatties in the kitchen.

"But Potato Day isn’t just all about potatoes.

"Growers will be inspired by the selection of garlic, onions shallots for sale, not to mention sundries, Kings Seeds and plants.

"Come and join us for the best start to your grow-your-own season, bargains and barrow loads of gardening chat."

Glasgow Potato Day is held at The Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre in Dennistoun from 11am to 3pm.

There will be a Seed Swap Table, children’s activities and workshops for grown-ups as well as a Tattie Bash for charity.
