PARTS of the city will be closed down later this week for filming rumoured to be for the new Batman picture.

Stars Robert Pattinson (left) and Zoe Kravitz could visit streets near the Necropolis this weekend to film parts of the new Batman movie.

Wishart Street and the surrounding roads will be closed intermittently from Friday, February 21, to Sunday, February 23 for filming to take place.

Wishart Street between Warnock Street and John Knox Street and Cathedral Square between Castle Street and Wishart Street east and west bound will be closed

from 2am on Saturday until midnight on Sunday.

We reported last month that Glasgow would play Gotham City in the latest retelling of the DC comic book classic, with shooting due late February.

Blocks to waiting and loading as well as stop and hold traffic management will be in place in the streets surrounding the Necropolis throughout the weekend.

The Batman crew would be following in the footsteps of other blockbusters World War Z and Fast and Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw.

Glasgow is a popular location for Hollywood filmmakers because of its wide avenues and relatively low rates for filming, compared to London or much of the US.
