A knife-wielding thug attempted to rob a Renfrewshire off-licence on Thursday night.
The man entered Gallowhill Licensed Grocers on Gallowhill Road in Paisley at around 6.15, our sister paper the Gazette reports.
He proceeded to demand money from the 39-year-old shopkeeper who challenged the thug.

The shopkeeper was left shaken by the incident and was treated for a minor injury.
The crook fled empty-handed heading in the direction of Marjory Drive.
Police are now hunting for the man and are appealing for information.

The suspect is described as slim and around 5ft10ins tall. He was wearing dark clothing and a scarf covering his face at the time.
Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information to call them on 101.
