THOUSANDS of counterfeit cigarettes have been seized as part of a major police operation in Govanhill.
Police Scotland has been undertaking an anti-housebreaking initiative in the South Side community.
And now it has been revealed that as part of the crackdown cops have uncovered 5000 counterfeit cigarettes from shops in the area.
Local officers were working with Glasgow City Council's Trading Standards department.
Police Scotland said: "In response to intelligence received from the community through Operation Kapel yesterday our local officers along with officers from Trading Standards seized around 5000 counterfeit cigarettes from shops in Govanhill."
