A BID to build 60 flats in Castlemilk for social rent has been given the go-ahead.
Glasgow City Council has granted permission for a residential development on a site at Machrie Road and Castlemilk Drive, owned by Cassiltoun Housing Association.
It will be made up of 42 two-bedroom, six two-bedroom wheelchair adaptable and 12 one-bed flats.
A planning statement said: “The proposal is for residential development on a brownfield site that will provide much needed housing for social rent to meet the need of the local community.
“The brief has been developed by Cassiltoun Housing Association in accordance with their identified housing needs to ensure a viable and desirable development in Castlemilk.
“They will provide an attractive addition to the existing social rental market for good quality housing in Castlemilk.”
There will be 53 parking spaces on the site.
A consultation event was held in Castlemilk Community Centre in July.
