ANDY HALLIDAY has warned Rangers must 'buck up their ideas' or risk seeing boss Steven Gerrard pay the ultimate price at Ibrox.

Gerrard cut a despondent figure in the aftermath of the defeat to Hamilton Accies on Wednesday night as his side fell 13 points adrift of Celtic in the Premiership title race.

The embarrassing Ibrox loss came just days after a Scottish Cup exit against Hearts that ended Gerrard's ambitions of silverware in his second campaign in charge.

Gerrard insisted earlier this week that he is committed to the cause as he looks to deliver success but his future will come up for debate once again after Accies added to Rangers' woes.

The 39-year-old is now facing the prospect of a significant summer rebuild and Halliday hopes there will be no change in the dugout for next term.

Halliday said: “We’ve said since the manager walked through the door that he’s black and white and his honesty is refreshing because that’s all you ask for in a manager.

“If you asked every player in that squad they would tell you the one thing they don’t want to happen is for the gaffer to leave this football club.

“And for that not to happen we need to buck up our ideas quickly because we’re the ones letting him and the club down.

“His disappointment filters through to us because we’ve let him and the fans down again.

“Everyone should be fearing for their future, it’s as simple as that. At a big club you’re judged on results and performances you put in on a week to week basis. It’s been 10 weeks now and that’s not a blip - that’s a complete turn in fortunes.

“If you’re not performing for 10 weeks then your position in the team comes under question. Far too many of us have underperformed for a long period of time so fans are entitled to have a go.

“The dressing room was one of the lowest since I’ve been here and I’ve had my fair share of low moments at the football club.”

David Moyo netted the only goal of the game at Ibrox as Hamilton moved off the foot of the Premiership with a famous win.

Rangers' domestic fortunes have contrasted starkly with their European form as they have reached the Europa League last 16 and Halliday said: "I thought Braga would be the turning point and kick-start our season and put in a positive push for the remainder of the season.

"But we followed that up with two extremely disappointing performances."
