Visitors are stealing hand wash from Glasgow's biggest hospital, according to staff, as stocks dwindle in supermarkets.
Two NHS sources told the Glasgow Times thefts of the gel have increased in the past few days as the number of Coronavirus cases in Scotland has risen.
Hospitals across the UK are also reported to have experienced the same issue.
One employee who works at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital said: "The hospital is well prepared for any issues but one problem we're having is visitors stealing hand gel.
"It's been happening a lot over the last few days."
A spokeswoman for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "We are disappointed at reports of hand sanitiser going missing in hospitals.
"We would remind people that the most effective way of combatting Coronovirus is through regular and thorough hand washing.
"We have good stocks of hand sanitiser throughout NHSGGC and would remind people that hand gel in our wards and public areas is there to protect our staff, visitors and our patients."
