AN essential snapshot of the city’s food scene, here’s our countdown of the most-talked about, must-visit restaurants in Glasgow right now.
Our new weekly chart, a partnership between the Glasgow Times and Glasgowist and released every Thursday, is ranked according to one important, ever-fluctuating quality: Who has the most buzz? We consider them the most interesting places to eat right now. You should too.
Featuring new openings, old favourites, rising star chefs, emerging food trends, seasonal ingredients or new found popularity, we’ll update you each week. Look out for new entries.
These are the 5 places to eat in Glasgow right now.
1. Honey and Salt (new entry)
Creating a buzz and making folk happy with an impressive range of speciality coffee, cracking sourdough toasties, freshly baked cookies and hearty soups close to Hampden Park. Honey and Salt are your new best pals on Carmunnock Road.
2. Grain and Grind (New Entry)
The cafe caught our attention this week with their sweet tribute to a Scotch egg - a Creme Egg wrapped in a layer of brownie, coated in chocolate then covered with their own cornflakes. If that sounds like your scene, you will find them at Battlefield and Strathbungo, alongside their latest cafe at Cathcart.
3. Partick Duck Club (Down Two)
Sides. Brunch. Desserts. The lot. Partick Duck Club continue to serve up impressive cooking across their menus. It's the kind of neighbourhood bistro that everyone would like to have at the end of their street.
4. Ka Pao (Down Two)
People can't stop talking about it, and we can't stop thinking about their corn ribs with salted coconut, soy and lime or spicy caramelised chicken. A smash hit on Vinicombe Street.
5. Sugo (Down One)
A pasta place, from the team behind Paesano, that remains busy every day of the week. Fresh pasta in a cool, modern space. Whatever it takes to make a new restaurant work, they've figured it out.
