Our fight to end healthcare charges for people with advanced dementia and raise awareness about the disease, led by reporter Caroline Wilson, has been shortlisted.

We received another nomination in the same category for Bank.On.Us, which helped generate more than 5000 bags for foodbanks across Glasgow after we inserted a paper bag into every edition of the paper.

Carla Jenkins has been shortlisted for young journalist of the year while reporter Jack Haugh received a double nomination for local feature writer of the year with The Gazette and sports writer with the Alloa Advertiser.

Colin Mearns has been nominated for news photographer of the year for his work in both the Glasgow Times and the Herald while Susan Swarbrick is shortlisted for feature writer of the year for the Herald.

Neil Mackay received a nod in the arts entertainment category for the Herald while Shona Craven of the National has been shortlisted for the Nicola Barry award, which recognises the work of female journalists.

All nominees will go forward to a grand final to be held in April at Glasgow’s Doubletree Hilton hotel.
