The Scottish Police College launched a probe after hand gel dispensers were discovered missing.
Employees and coppers in training at Tulliallan are understood to have been sent a strongly worded email asking for the return of two dispensers which had gone missing from the cafe area.
A police spokewoman said the hand gel dispensers were later found in another part of the college.
Coronavirus fears have seen chemist and supermarket shelves emptied of stocks of hand wash.
While antibacterial gels are not as effective as tackling the virus, experts have disputed misleading posts on social media which claim they have no effect on the virus.
A police spokeman said: "The hand gel dispensers were found across the corridor in the Assembly Hall, so it was just a case of them being misplaced.
"Therefore, no theft occurred."
