ALLAN MCGREGOR: Sent the wrong way from the spot by Havertz, but little else to do in the first half despite the visitors dominating possession. No chance with other goals. 6

JAMES TAVERNIER: Overcame injury to make the line-up but was out of sorts for the most part until corner found head of Edmundson for Rangers goal. 6

GEORGE EDMUNDSON: Penalised for handball for first-half penalty but made amends with headed goal that briefly brought Rangers back into the tie. 6

CONNOR GOLDSON: Swiped at a couple of crosses early on but grew into the game as it went on with a couple of decent challenges. 6

BORNA BARISIC: Poor distribution and uncharacteristically poor delivery from set-pieces too. 5

STEVEN DAVIS: Lucky to get away with a slack pass in the first half and he was unsure in possession thereafter. Real off night from the normally reliable midfielder. 5

GLEN KAMARA: Picked up booking for late challenge on Weiser, which was about the closest he got to the opposition in the opening 45. Looks devoid of confidence and brought off for Hagi. 5

SCOTT ARFIELD: Was one of the more eager Rangers players to press their opponents and tried to carry the fight from midfield. Full of effort. 7

JOE ARIBO: Couldn’t hold on to the ball at all and was way off the pace. No surprise to see him hooked just after half-time. 5

RYAN KENT: Started brightly but faded. High line adopted by Leverkusen should have left space for the winger to exploit, but the ball rarely found its way to him. 5

ALFREDO MORELOS: Feeding off scraps for the most part until finally forcing a very decent stop from Hradecky at his near post at start of second half. Little impact otherwise though. 5

SUBSTITUTES

FLORIAN KAMBERI: Gave Rangers and Ibrox a spark when he came on but couldn’t force a breakthrough. 6

IANIS HAGI: On after Leverkusen’s second but couldn’t replicate Braga heroics. 4

MATT POLSTER: On for last 5 minutes or so as Tavernier ran out of steam. 3
