A CHURCH in the Calton wants to erect a memorial to victims of the Irish potato famine on their grounds.
St Mary's in Abercromby Street have submitted plans for the An Gorta Mor (the Great Hunger) monument.
The memorial will be placed in a garden area to the front of the building if city planners approve. A decision is expected on May 7.
