COPS are investigating an assault on a man in Glasgow city centre.

The force said a 23-year-old was attacked in the early hours of Monday morning.

No further details were provided about the assault and his injuries are unknown. 

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Around 1.40 am on Monday, March 16 officers were called to the Union Street area of Glasgow following reports of a 23-year-old man being seriously assaulted.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full details.

"Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 0228 of 16 March."
