Rangers flop Joey Barton and his Fleetwood Town assistant boss Clint Hill play Gers tunes before games, according to ex-Celtic winger Ross Wallace.

Now at St Mirren, Wallace left The Fishermen after a season under Barton and his backroom staff. Former Hoops pal Stephen Crainey was also part of the set-up.

Barton - who did not have a successful stint at Ibrox - remains a Light Blues man as does Hill, 41. And Wallace remembered how the pair wound him up before big Old Firm clashes while in the changing room.

"Him [Barton], Hilly and Baz [Nicholson] are all Rangers men," Wallace told Si Ferry on Open Goal. "There was basically just me and Stephen Crainey, who is down there as well doing development.

"When the Rangers and Celtic matches were on, they were giving it a bit. They put Penny Arcade on before the games! I was like you f*****g..."

Wallace also outlined his time at the Hoops and recalled the 'morgue' atmosphere in the changing room at Fir Park after Helicopter Sunday. He said: "Martin [O'Neill] was sitting in the corner, absolutely gutted. We had it in our hands and threw it away. [Watching from the stands] you're starting to think, 'What's going to be said downstairs? Is it going to kick-off?' But I think they just knew."
