The last open branch of Where the Monkey Sleeps will close today, but not before they donate all their left over food for free to the public.

Sofie Ford, owner of Where The Monkey sleeps, told The Glasgow Times:

"It is a heavy heart that we have to let you know all Monkey shops will be closed temporarily from tomorrow.

"As one last hurrah we are very excited to announce Free Food Friday.

She said: "We know this has been a real tough week for so many people but we have been overwhelmed by the support we have been shown from our loyal customers and we want to say thank you.

Glasgow Times:

"We would normally donate our waste to Glasgow's City Mission, but after chatting with them today they are completely at capacity and are currently stocking up their freezers.

"We can't stand waste so if you are in town tomorrow please come by - we'd love to see you."

The Glasgow Times reported earlier this week the break-in that devastated Sofie and the store on Monday.

Thugs smashed the front door and stole £600 from the till.

Although the decision to close has not been made lightly, Sofie says it is in the best interests of the staff and public.

Sofie said: "We've made the decision to close, its a tough one, but we want to keep our staff and customers safe. We also want to play our part in the national effort to combat this virus and we feel that is the only way we can do that."

Although this will be the final store branch that is closing, Sofie says their online ventures will begin in earnest with their Tuesday clubs and website still selling merchandise.

"But don't fear we are confident that the Monkey will be back and better than ever once we're on the other side of this.

"In the mean time, although we're closing our physical doors, we are excited to announce we are opening our virtual ones.

"We hope to see you tomorrow for some free food and please, eveyrone, keep safe."
