HE'S one of Glasgow's most famous indie sons. Now, Gerry Cinnamon is doing his bit to help the city during the coronavirus outbreak. 

The Castlemilk-born rock star, best known for hit Belter, has announced some shows from his upcoming tour have had to be rescheduled for later in the year. 

But, the 35-year-old has delighted housebound fans by revealing he still plans to release his second album The Bonny on April 17, saying there is no chance he's going to "let folk down".

He said: "Anyone that knows me knows all I care about is folk having a class night and getting home safe.

"So, it’s a no brainer to move some of the earlier dates. Not ideal, but pales in comparison to the s**t other folk are going through.

“It’s probably not smart to release during a lockdown when the shops are closed and everyone’s isolating but no chance I’m letting folk down.

Glasgow Times:

"Never gave a f**k about numbers anyway not gonnae start now." 

The singer also revealed he is spending his ‘social distancing’ time signing copies his new record, many of which will be sent to randomly selected fans who have pre-ordered the album.

The singer/songwriter has become a sensation since his self-released debut album Erratic Cinematic reached the Top 20.  It has already sold over 170,000 copies and been certified Gold. Gerry has gone on to hit 160 million streams on Spotify, with a current total of 1.5 million monthly listeners. 

His tour will see him play to the largest audiences of his career so far with more than 50,000 expected to see him at the national stadium. 

The July 18 show is just a short distance from the area of Castlemilk where the Glaswegian star grew up.
