THREE men appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow and denied attempting to murder a man by attacking him with bladed weapons.

Andrew Marshall, 22, Christopher Roberts, 28, and Robert Kirkwood, 23, are accused of assaulting Dylan Jane, who is now deceased, on November 24, last year, at Hillside Crescent, Hamilton, by striking him on the head and body with the weapons and bottles and inflicting blunt force injuries by means unknown.

They are also alleged to have had in their possession unlawfully adapted Stanley knife blades.

Marshall is also accused of breaching a curfew from 7pm to 7am imposed at Hamilton Sheriff Court on November 18, 2019.

Kirkwood, who was represented by solicitor advocate Iain Paterson, has lodged a special defence of alibi.

All three deny all the charges against them.

Judge Lady Stacey told them: “Because of the Coronavirus I'm not fixing a trial diet.”

Instead a further preliminary hearing has been set for June 18.
