Thugs attempted to break into a Glasgow medical centre in the early hours of Saturday, March 21. 

Grantley Medical Practice has been forced to keep its doors closed to walk-ins on Monday after the incident. 

A source told the Glasgow Times that the thieves were looking to take surgical masks from the practice which is "vital" to NHS workers treating those with COVID-19.

However, Police Scotland confirmed that nothing had been lifted from the premises. 

The practice confirmed the break-in in a statement: "Due to a break-in, the practice reception will be closed to walk-ins on Monday morning. 

"Phone lines will be open as usual."

Officers are currently investigating the attempted break-in. 

A spokesman for Police Scotland told the Glasgow Times: "Officers were made aware of an attempted break-in at premises on Grantley Street in Glasgow shortly after 2.50am on Saturday, 21 March with the incident having happened a short time earlier.

"Nothing was stolen from the property and enquiries are ongoing."
