Parking wardens have been out in force in Glasgow City Centre according to reports, after the council pledged to halt on-street charges.

Councillor Elaine Ballantyne said the changes would come into force yesterday (Monday) and aim to support key workers using their cars and drive down the use of public transport, which is operating at a reduced frequency.

Cllr Ballantyne said enforcement would focus on "disabled bays and yellow lines." It is claimed that vehicles were ticketed yesterday that did not fall into either category.

Bill Beckett, who lives in Garnethill area sent in the image we have used but says the cars ticketed were not in this area and in regular bays.

He said: "I've just witnessed a warden ticket 3 vehicles on st Vincent St and is hanging about like a hornet ready to sting.

"This was between Renfield Street and Hope Street outside Lloyds Banking group."

In response, a council spokeswoman said enforcement would focus on yellow lines, vehicles obstructing deliveries or disabled parking breaches.
