WARRINGTON Market's move to its new home in Time Square has been postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.

The £11million modern market and food court and bar was due to open in April before the outbreak and subsequent lockdown.

Warrington Guardian:

The market – in its temporary home – remains open for essential shopping but with the reduced opening hours of 9am to 2pm from Monday to Saturday.

Many traders have closed their stalls until further notice and the market is reminding residents that they 'should only leave their homes to shop for essential items, as infrequently as possible, in line with the clear national guidance'.

Deputy Council Leader Cathy Mitchell, said: “We would like to thank all of our loyal customers for supporting Warrington Market and our independent traders during this challenging and unprecedented time.

“I’d also like to express my thanks to the traders who are continuing to offer essential produce for our shoppers, ensuring there is food available for people, particularly our most vulnerable, during these uncertain times.

“We will continue to support the community by keeping the market open for as long as we are able to. We will continue to review the situation and will of course keep you updated if things change.”

One of the main features of the delayed new Warrington Market be a large Altrincham Market and Mackie Mayor-style food court, which can be separated from the market hall with shutters to welcome visitors in the evening and to host special pop-up events.
