Known for entertaining us in her role of Glaswegian Mary 'Doll' Nesbitt, Elaine C. Smith has taken to Facebook to "put a wee bit of light out there in the world". 

The famous actress from Baillieston shared a video reading of The Glasgow Gruffalo for all Glasgow kids to enjoy during lockdown. 

Elaine C. Smith translated the popular children's story into Glaswegian in 2016 and decided to share a reading with the world as people are being advised to stay at home. 

She apologised for not "looking tip-top" because she had to do her own hair while her sister is on lockdown.

"Thankfully, I don't look as bad as Christine - naw yet. Give me a couple of weeks though and the roots will be in and the moustache will have grown back," she added referring her character in the TV show Two Doors Down. 

After an entertaining reading, she signed off: "See you on the other side of lockdown."
