OWNERS of a cafe paid tribute to their most loyal customer before they shut their doors.

The generous owners of Cafe Gelato in Burnside, Rutherglen gave a large care- package of food to regular Bob Gallacher, 86, after ithey were forced to close in light of new social distancing rules.

Bob’s granddaughter Heather McNab was moved by the cafe owners’ generosity.

He has lived in Burnside nearly all his life and Heather thinks he has gone to the cafe almost every day since it opened.

She said: “He’s doing okay, but he’s one of those people who talks to everyone and he goes to church.

“It’s very out of the ordinary for him for all these things to be closed and to not have people to talk to.”

Regular calls to Heather and her mother, as well as his store of gifted food are keeping Bob going through a difficult time.
