A Glasgow choir was forced to move a gig online that was planned for the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, but still managed to raise over £1500 for charity.

Jennifer Sim, Choirmaster of Rock Choir UK, leads choirs in Glasgow City Centre, Milngavie, Bothwell, Kilmacolm and Largs.

Despite selling out the show was cancelled due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Jennifer told The Glasgow Times: "I wanted to get my choir members involved ‘virtually’ to mark Saturday’s event so I set up an online steam from my front room and broadcast their favourite songs

"Over 350 members got involved, each one singing out from the comfort of their own homes."

Members tuned in as far as Australia and London.

Jennifer added: "The feedback has been terrific.

"Members were able to connect to me and to each other by sending comments to me which I was able to read out during the live broadcast."

Choir member Irene Parsons said: “My flight home from Australia was cancelled and I’m not sure when I’ll get back.

"It was such a feel good tonic to tune in and watch the singalong. It was a lovely to feel so connected with Rock Choir back home"

The gig made over £1500 for Headway, a Glasgow based charity providing support and care for people with brain injuries.
