Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to hospital for tests as his coronavirus symptoms persist, Downing Street has said.

A spokesman for 10 Downing Street said: "On the advice of his doctor the Prime Minister has been taken to hospital as a precaution."

He has gone into hospital in London on Sunday for tests and Downing Street said it is not an emergeny admission but instead because the symptoms he had been showing have not gone away.

The Prime Minister has been self isolating in the flat at Downing Street.

His girlfriend, Carrie Symonds, who is expecting the couple's child has been living at another address in London.

Mr Johnson will still be in charge of the Government response to coronavirus pandemic.

Although it is expected Dominic Raab will chair tomorrow's morning meeting.
