A six-year-old girl from Balornock has raised an outstanding £1404 for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde from making colourful rainbows for people's windows.

In lockdown and unable to go to school, Halle Glass decided she wanted to start selling something that would bring a smile to people's faces.

Her Mum Samantha explains: “Halle decided on Saturday that she was going to start selling something, so initially she planned to do some homemade lemonade but then she realised obviously with coronavirus she couldn’t sell it.

“Then she thought, lets sell some lovely rainbows for people’s windows. We made a wee video of her for our family and she said if she could raise any money at all she would like to give it to the NHS."

After sharing the video of Halle with a link to her fundraiser on Facebook, in just four days she raised over £1000.

Samantha added: “I’m bursting with pride – I honestly can’t believe it. We’ve made 125 rainbows so far.

“Her Dad and her brother have been giving her a wee hand with colouring them in to give her a wee hand because she’s receiving so many donations, it’s amazing.

“Everyone is then tagging me on Facebook and Instagram with their rainbow up on their window saying thank you for my beautiful NHS rainbow. It’s really, really sweet.”

Halle and her Mum and Dad have been sending the rainbows to people via post - lighting up communities across the city.

“Halle keeps waking up in the morning asking what the updated figures are at, it’s so amazing to see how determined she is.

“I was really taken aback when she said she wanted to donate the money to the frontline workers, I’m really proud.”
