TRAVEL company Stagecoach and McGill's bus service have teamed up to provide key workers at Glasgow's biggest hospital transport to and from work. 

The service includes an increase in journeys between Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Glasgow, with buses now due four times per hour. 

The buses will also allow for shared ticketing between Stagecoach and McgGill's services.

The move comes as Stagecoach announced extra measures all across the UK to help key frontline workers get to work during the coronavirus crisis. 

Other plans include an increase of journeys between Cummnock and Ary Hospital and between Ary and Kilmarnock.

Martin Griffiths, Stagecoach chief executive, said: “Key workers across Britain are working incredibly hard as part of the national effort to beat the coronavirus.

"I’m extremely proud of all the great work that our own teams are doing to keep the country moving, including getting our vital healthcare workers to hospitals.

"Our own heroes behind the wheel and their colleagues in support roles are really putting their country and their local communities first."
