POLICE vehicles will tour the streets of a Glasgow neighbourhood to thank people for staying home.

Two police cars will pass through Milton tomorrow at 2pm flashing lights to praise local people's efforts to follow social distancing rules.

A top cop has praised Glaswegians' efforts in following the strict lockdown rules, which has seen people stopped for taking non-essential trips across the country.

Chief Inspector Scott McCarren, Area Commander based at Maryhill said: "We have been extremely encouraged by the level of compliance in our local communities.

"People understand the need to adhere to the guidelines in place and the reasons for them, and I would like to thank them for their continuing co-operation.

"We are working hard to keep people safe and on Thursday afternoon we will be carrying out public reassurance with two of our community policing cars driving through the Milton area to show our appreciation, especially to the young children in the area.”

A local community group, No1Seems2Care have suggested local children post signs in their windows to thank officers by waving from their windows and holding up signs
