MORE than £200 has been raised to replace lifebelts vandalised on the River Clyde.
Derek Loughlin, member of the Glasgow Humane Society’s Board of Directors, revealed earlier this week he received an “unexpected but pleasing” donation to his fund – which was set up in the wake of a vandalism spree.
He said: “I posted back in December about the vandalism that was being done to life ropes along the shores of the River Clyde.
“I know that we are all suffering in differing amounts due to COVID-19, but tragically lives are still being lost and life ropes cut even in these uncertain times.”
The Glasgow Times has reported on a number of occasions in recent months where mindless thugs have cut the life-saving rope.
And on one occasion, a group of youngsters were pictured throwing a lifebelt into the water despite no emergency.
