PLAYGROUND Festival has been postponed due to the coronavirus

Event bosses today confirmed that the three-day festival, which this year was committed to "showcasing female talent" has had to be pushed back because of the pandemic.

They emailed fans: "Dear Playground Family.

"Following the guidance from the Scottish and UK Government that large scale gatherings should currently not take place due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Playground 2020 will now take place on Glasgow Bank Holiday Weekend - 27-29th September."

Headliners CHVRCHES, Underworld, The Flaming Lips, Neneh Cherry and Nightmares On Wax have all confirmed they will play the new dates.

Organisers added: "Thank you for your messages of support and we can't wait to see you for the biggest party the Glasgow September Weekend Bank Holiday has ever seen."

The event was due to take place on July 31 to August 2 in Rouken Glen Park in Giffnock.
