A Cardonald corner shop has came up with an inventive way of help to celebrate birthdays in lockdown - with some humourous decorations.

Brown's Newsagents, on Paisley Road West, came up with the unique "Happy Self-isolated Birthday" balloons, after government restrictions left people unable to get out and celebrate their birthday in style.

Glasgow Times:

Chris Brown, whose father owns the shop, said: "We thought that people would be pretty disappointed with not being able to celebrate properly so we came up with the idea for the balloons as just a wee joke."

"The reaction has been pretty crazy so far, and we've already had a handful gone out this morning alone."

Glasgow Times:

The handmade decorations, with messages including 'Quarantine Princess' and 'At least you don't have to share your cake in isolation' can be personalised and also changed depending on occasion.

"The locals have supported us during this time so this is our way of giving a bit back, even just a bit of a laugh."
