A Glasgow choir have been busy during isolation, creating a cover of Electric Light Orchestra's iconic hit Mr Blue Sky.

Acquire, a musical theatre choir based in Dennistoun, decided to film the cover after plans to perform the song at a wedding was scrapped due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Graham Duffy, musical director of Acquire, said: "One of our founders, Amy, and her partner, Kit, were planning to get married in July, but obviously that has fallen through at the moment.

"It had been organised that the choir would sing at the wedding and Mr Blue Sky was one of the three songs we had picked out."

"It was the song that we had rehearsed in the room, so I knew how it sounded and it really did sound great, so we thought lets do it from home."

The video, which took more than three weeks to complete with the help of arranger Dan Glover, has been a hit with fans online, with Graham saying: "The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.

"We've had people tell us how much it has brightened their day during this time, and also from the choir members - they've missed performing."
